Senior Maggie Cochran is and has been a proud member of the Ramapo girls Lacrosse program for four years. She has constantly shown her passion for the sport and is an incredible asset to the team as captain. Maggie started playing lacrosse in 3rd grade and comments that she is “so grateful I was able to finish it out with many of the same girls.”
The girls lacrosse team had a great season with many incredible moments. One of Maggie’s favorites is their competition against Montclair. She thinks back to that moment and said “The best part about this season was definitely when we beat Montclair in quadruple overtime. My team was a big part of why our season was so successful.” Under Maggie’s leadership as captain, the lacrosse team made it to sectionals for the second time in the program’s history. Maggie says that “it was a great experience to finish off with.”
Maggie’s passion for the sport is undeniable as well as her love for her teammates. Even during the conditioning and constant practice, she insists that “this group of girls made every day of the season so much fun.” Maggie brings an undeniable energy to the group and could not be prouder of her team. “We practiced, we persisted, and we performed,” she said.
Maggie will certainly miss practice with her teammates and reflects on her years as part of the team exclaiming that “This season and this group of girls taught me a lot about what it means to be a part of something bigger than myself…. to be a part of a team.” She will never forget her years on the lacrosse team as it “will always hold a special place in my heart.” Next year, Maggie is attending Gettysburg college! She is looking forward to going and is planning on continuing to play club lacrosse. Good luck to Maggie next year!
