Start spreading the news! The New York Yankees made it back into the postseason for the first time in five years and are hungry for their 28th World Series title. The Yankee roster consists of veterans, Brett Gardner, Didi Gregorious, Jacoby Ellsbury, Chase Headley, Masahiro Tanaka, and CC Sabathia. Rookies, dubbed the “Baby Bombers”, consist of Gary Sanchez, Tyler Austin, Clint Frazier, and home run king, Aaron Judge. Along with instrumental additions, Aroldis Chapman and Jersey native, Todd Frazier. Choir teacher/Yankee diehard, Mrs. Reitter said, “I enjoyed seeing the new talent, and vets like Gardner playing together.”
Sports reporter/Yankee super fan and one of Ramapo’s very own, Signora MaCartan said, “I thought the offense was strong and potent enough with Judge and the rest of the Baby Bombers. But [I] didn’t think the starting pitchers were gonna get us there. But Tanaka, CC, and [Luis] Severino clearly did great.” From clutch hits to defensive plays, it’s been a complete team effort.
Andie Pillori ’18, said, “The entire team stood out. Judge and Didi broke records. Sanchez did amazing and Todd Frazier came at the right time and was really great at third. Greg Bird came back better than ever. Hicks came in clutch when we were struggling, but overall the entire team contributed and brought them to the ALCS.” Between the Wild Card game and the ALDS and ALCS series, someone on the team always came through in times of need. Liam Naumann ’21, said “My favorite play from the season so far was Gary Sanchez’s clutch solo home run in game four.”
The Yankees were never expected to win but made it to game 7 of the ALCS series, one game away from the World Series. If this is a “rebuilding year”, then let the Yankees rebuild every year! #thumbsdown #allrise
